HUMAN REMAINS: Found by one of our members?

February 10th, 2010 by admin

Skull 001I am always amazed by the amount of information a community forum can provide to our members, and yes the lurkers. A couple of weeks ago, I was surprised to read that one of our forum members found what he thought to be human remains on the the Upper Hillborough wildlife management area. He posted a report that he would be hog hunting in that area, and then came back with a report that no one would have expected. He found human remains! Here is a quote from his post.

“Just got back from Upper Hillsborough. Did not see anything, but had a pretty interesting weekend. I got there around 1:30, set up camp and was on my way to my hog spot at 3:00. The area was flooded and after wading for a while, I decided to break through a thick patch of palmettos and try to hit the rail road tracks and make it back to my truck before dark. To my surprise, in the middle of the palmetto patch I found a human skull and some bones. After saving the location in my GPS, I finally made it to the tracks where I had cell phone reception and contacted 911. As you can imagine, I spent my afternoon waiting for LE to show up and they had a hard time finding the spot, even though I gave them the coordinates. After they got to the tracks, I took them to the spot, which was aprox. 400 yards from the tracks. I had to tell them the same story like 6-7 times, what I was doing, what direction I came from, how did I was able to see the remains as they were well hidden, blah, blah, blah…Finally made it back to camp around 8 pm. I have some pictures (skull and some bones) that I can upload if appropriate.”
Now i know there hasn’t been any verification on whether or not these remains are in fact human, but the chances of another primate roaming the woods and dying of natural causes can’t be that high. Can it?

We will follow this story and keep you updated.

kite-fishing

Just got finished up publishing out latest article on kite fishing for sharks……

Here is a link!

For the article, Chase took us out on his Mako and we hit the Fort Pierce boil. We flew kites that afternoon and had a great time and trip. Shark fishing with kites is not something that everyone generally tries, but I will tell you one thing, watching those baits get smashed on the surface is where it is at! It was laid back fun, and we got some cool photos. Make sure to check out the article and leave a comment if you feel like it!!!!

Skiff Reviews by Microskiff.com

We also just finished putting together some new reviews on skiffs. We are glad to have some friends over at micoskiff.com. Captain Jan is as thorough as it gets, and gives a really unbiased look at skinny water boats. We are really glad he is letting us use his reviews, and hope that you will check out his web site. He has forums that really give you the skinny on all of the flats boats on the market today.
