870 Pump Shotgun |
 |
We
received a huge amount of recommendations
for this timeless classic. It has
been around forever and will be
around a lot longer. The number
one reason people recommended this
gun is for its ability to withstand
some of the worst conditions out
there. The remington 870 will continue
to fire in almost any weather. This
is considered the workhorse of shotguns.
It had 3 times the number of votes
than any other gun mentioned here.
Enough said!

REVIEW
Make:Remington
Model:870 Express
Action: Pump
Barrel Length: 28 inches
Chamber:3 inch
Finish:Matte
Notes:Ugly, ugly, ugly.... but pure function
and reliability - it's almost 15 years
old, and has seen PLENTY of use. Plus,
a scratch or a ding doesn't give me a
heart attack. I only use 3 inchers for
geese - all my duck hunting is over decoys;
mallards, scaup, and ringnecks with the
occasional woody. 2-3/4 inch #2 steel
with a mod choke works just fine.

Make: Remington
Model: 870 Express Super Mag
Action: Pump
Barrel Length: 26 inches
Chamber: 3.5 inches
Finish: Matte
Notes: A workhorse of a gun that has taken
a beating and dealt out plenty in return.
I have painted the whole gun to stop rust
and also to give it a camo finish and
I'm very happy with it. Has never jammed,
although one time I had a small twig get
inside the receiver while crawling on
the ground and it got stuck behind the
shell release. In five minutes I had it
apart, fixed, and back together to finish
my limit of ducks. Last season it got
its first use as a paddle when my motor
failed. It fits my definition of a duck
gun perfectly: take all the abuse I throw
at it and never miss a beat.

Beretta
391 Shotgun |

This
gun came highly recommended. It
cycles very fast and is said to
be very reliable. It was noted that
this shotgun will shoot a variety
of shell sizes without any problems.
This gun was not one we thought
would place in the top five, but
the people have spoken and they
said this shotgun is worth taking
a look at.

Model: AL391 Urika Optima Bore
Action: Autoloader
Barrel Length: 28 inches
Chamber: 3 inches
Finish: Blued, Wood Stock
Notes: I used this gun for Duck hunting
this past weekend. It shoots as fast as
I can pull the trigger and cycles reliably

I use this gun for Trap and Skeet with
the same results. It is a fantastic shotgun
and is also very nice looking.

Citori Shotgun |
 |
This
is the only over under that made
the top 5. It is the Browning Citori.
Despite its pretty face its owners
are raving that it offers a lot
more than just looks. This guns
swings like no other and based on
what we have heard it is a great
choice for duck hunting this year.
The only thing we ask is that you
don't throw it in the bottom of
your duck boat !

- Just got it this year, and haven't hunted
with it yet
- Points GREAT! Have high expectations
for a good season!
- Can shoot 3.5" for Sandhill Cranes
and Geese
- Love the new air touch stock. Think
it will be great in the duck pond when
hands are wet and slimy.

Browning
BPS Stalker |
 |
Let
us introduce you to the bottom fed
bottom ejecting BPS stalker from
Browning. This shotgun gets rid
of those spent shells in a fashion
that makes sense to any serious
water fowler. Why worry about a
spent round hitting your partner
or seeing it out of your peripheral
vision. This gun throws your empties
straight down. This is a interesting
concept but isn't the only reason
to pick up one of these bad boys.
It is a rugged machine made to shoot
at any waterfowl you see fit. Enough
people told us about this gun to
make it into the number 5 spot !

REVIEW
I got a BPS
3.5 inch in black, I think its called
a Stalker. Pretty sweet gun, gotta keep
it a little bit clean. Its a great duck
gun. 26 inch barrel. When I go for geese,
I slip on the Patternmaster choke and
it does a real nice job of getting out
there. Nice all around gun.
