A boater on East Bay this holiday weekend spotted what may be the body of missing boater James Cook.

Cook was seen jumping off a speeding boat, the "Hook and Cook," not far from Redfish Point in St. Andrews Bay May 24.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officials were notified that the man who had jumped off his boat did not resurface. An extensive search-and-rescue operation began immediately.

Saturday afternoon, FWC officials received a call from a boater who noticed what is believed to be Cook's body washed up on Military Point, across from the paper mill on the Tyndall Air Force Base side.

The body was taken to the Bay County Medical Examiner's Office for positive identification. An examination is scheduled for Tuesday.

FWC officials are continuing the investigation.
